How To Make Sure Your Fitted Slipcovers Fit Perfectly

When you are ordering custom made fitted slipcovers, you will have to know each piece of furniture's measurements before you buy. Purchasing custom slipcovers not going to be as easy as their ready made versions. Ready made slipcovers are designed to simply fit certain standard shapes of furniture. If you have a unique shape of furniture in your home, then these one size fits all will not work. You will have to look at your budget and decide how much you want to invest in slipcovers. While ready made slipcovers may not fit perfectly, they can be purchased at a large discount over custom fitted slipcovers. Regardless of which kind you choose, you will still have all the options for style and color. You will still be able to choose from piped trim, natural materials or synthetic, solid colors or funky designs, and even suede or leather styles.
When measuring dining room chairs for fitted slipcovers there are eight to eleven separate areas you will need to measure, depending on wether the chair has arms or not. These areas include:
1. Width of the seat at the front and at the back
2. Height of the seat from its top to the floor.
3. Depth of the seat, from front to back.
4. Total chair height from highest point to the floor.
5. Height of the seat back from the top of the seat to the highest point of the back.
6. Width of the seat back at the top.
7. Depth of the seat back at its widest point.

If you need fitted slipcovers for a dining room chair with arms these areas need to be measured:
8. Total of the arm height from the top of the arm to the floor.
9. Standard arm height, the space between the seat and the top of the arm.
10. Length of the arm from the joint where the arm meets the back to the front.
11. Width of the arm, the space between the arms from right to left. Watch close to be sure the width does not change semi way down the arms. Some chair arms are further apart in the front or back.

When you are measuring a living room chair, couch, or loveseat for a fitted slipcover, there will be several factors that will need to be focused on. Such as if the seat covers square or T-cushions.  T-cushions are going to be one large cushion that wraps around the front and looks like a T when viewed from the top. Square cushions are going to either be one or more square or rectangle shaped cushions. Next is the back of the seats, which will be either removable or sewn on. There are four major styles of back cushions. The low back cushion will look like a pyramid or square shape to the back when viewing from the side. It will have a straight upholstered back that goes above the arm rest no more than ten inches. The high back cushion is similar to the low except that the back will rise above the arm rest up to thirteen inches. Rounded back cushions have rounded tops when viewing from the front and do not go above the arm rest more than nine inches. Last there is the tuxedo backed cushion where the height of the arm and back only differ by one and a half inches. Once you know the style you will be able to measure properly.
